Hey everyone!

Anyways, earlier this week I saw a new Information Box on Pandora. Apparently they were going to limit my lisning to only 40 hours of music, then I would be forced to pay 99 cents a month(its not that bad). Well the box kept reminding me that I was approaching 40 hours, and just magically stopped at 39 hours. Now, its completely gone. I’m glad pandora is withdrawing this(at least for me), because I really don’t like doing transactions online, anyways a poor(kidding :)).

Well got 3 test tomarrow. Ill post some more stuff later.

Well I just screwed up my dns settings accidently, while multasking with 1000 tabs, I selected the dns entrys for bitcoregames insted of bitcoreupload. I changed the ip pointer entry(A), to my vps. Well then 2 hours later no one could get on the fourm, or let me change the DNS settings. With alittle thinking i used the servers ip and sucessfully changed it back.

5 Rules for A Startup Webhosting Company

Posted in Uncategorized, webhosting on May 27th, 2009 by Ardnat – 18 Comments

Servers

Servers

Its been 30 Days since I started BitCoreHosting.com and I have learned a ton about the web hosting market. Without further adue I present 5 Rules for A Startup Webhosting Company:

1.Start out Small
When selling my hosting, I noticed that I barley got any sales. As I said start out small. You don’t need a huge dedicated server for the first month you start out. Start with a reseller or VPS and work your way up!

2.Promotion is Everything
The only way your going to get people to buy your service is by letting people know its out there. You are up against a ton of competitors! Advertising is almost everything. If no one visits your site, how are you going to make sales?

3.You Must Give Up Some Time
Webhosting is a serious business. If you are ever going to succeed then you must put a ton of time into your company! Most of this time should be spent promoting or working on your website.

4.You Must Invest Some Money
As in most things in life, there are several limiting factors that limit your abiley to do things. One is money. Do you want to know why a web host started by a 13 year old fails within a month? Not investing enough money and time. You need to be dedicated to your company and are required to invest some money to start it out. This is the only way you will succeed. Areas of investment would be buying Ad space on websites. using google AdWords, hiring people to do live chat(possibly paying them a commission), and most importantly buying a server to resell.

5.Don’t Over - Oversell
Never promise your clients more than you can realistically deliver to them. If you have a reseller account with 5GB of disk space, don’t start selling accounts with 100GB of space.. At least have an account that’s around 100GB if you want to do this. Most of the time people only use around 1GB of space when hosting a website, so overselling can be a good thing. Also monitor your client’s disk space usage and make sure to upgrade your reseller or buy more disk’s for your server if space is running low.

Well thats it, hope I have passed on some of my aquired knowlage so you won’t make the same mistakes I did.

Booting BackTrack In Windows

Backtrack

Backtrack

I have finaly figured out to get QEMU to run Backtrack 3 using Windows as the Host OS.

Here’s what I did:

  1. Downloaded the lastest stable version of BackTrack(Currently version 3), you may optionaly download the USB version for more features.
  2. Download QEMU Make sure you download the Windows version!
  3. Uncompress QEMU & copy the Backtrack ISO into the same directory
  4. Make a new file called BTboot.bat open it and copy this into it: qemu -L . -std-vga -localtime -soundhw all -m 512 -cdrom *.iso -hda linux.img -boot d
  5. Now edit *.iso to the name of the Backtrack iso
  6. Run the newly created file
  7. While Backtrack is at the boot screen, select a graphics mode(KDE or Flux) and press Tab
  8. Change the line autoexec=xconf;kdm to autoexec=kdm
  9. Now press enter and ENJOY!!

Hope everything worked out correctly, If not just post a comment and I will try to help you. Heck, just post a comment anyways :)

How to Kill a Baby with an iPhone!

Posted in iPhone and iPod Touch News on April 25th, 2009 by porkysblog – 4 Comments

On Monday the Appstore released a new iPhone app called Baby Shaker, at $0.99 you could download the app and a picture of a baby comes up and you shake the iPhone until red X’s appear over the baby’s eyes.  As more and more people were outraged over the app Apple has pulled it off the Appstore.  The real question is how things like this get onto the Appstore, when Apple does not approve of apps you have an iPhone looking icon somewhere within the program.  Although Apple has pulled this app from the Appstore many users have already downloaded the app and have distrubuted it across the web.

Over 1 Billion iPhone Apps!

Posted in iPhone and iPod Touch News on April 23rd, 2009 by porkysblog – Be the first to comment

The iPhone Appstore has just reached over a billion apps downloaded in just around nine months.  This shows how big and popular the Appstore is for people who own iPhones and iPod Touches.  Also how fast Apple as grown as a company alone.  Not to mention this count does not include people who have downloaded cracked apps via Installous.  So in reality the number of apps download that are on the Appstore is alot bigger than one billion, but I guess they only count the legal downloads.  To learn more about Apple reaching the big 1,000,000,000 click here.

Vps Troubles Cleared

Posted in Uncategorized on April 9th, 2009 by Ardnat – 2 Comments

After a day for searching for the answer I have finanly found how to solve the problem i have been having with my VPS here. The problem I was having was on reboot i was getting the error message “Server refused to allocate pty” when I tryed to login via ssh. Right now everthing it working fine :)

In other news, I did finaly make my new XNA classes for my engine and even made a new ColCircle class that lets me test colisions with circles. So far I have made it and had to write a pretty awsome converter to convert rectangle objects to bounding boxes, but still i need to find a way to translate direction & radius to a vector on a  point of a circle.

Here’s My New Status Update

Posted in Uncategorized on April 9th, 2009 by Ardnat – Be the first to comment

Hey everyone, here’s a huge post on whats going on here at bitcore games and also what going on with me. To start out I will talk about the company. Today(at around 1am in the morning) I finally got access to the new VPS we just got. It is amazing! I can get arround 1MB a second from my home connection, the fastest I’ve ever gotten! We will be using this VPS for hosting game servers that for our games and also game servers for separate games as a way to make profits. Next, I have finally decided team positions for our company. This is a big next steap to us acculuey starting a game and is awesome. Speaking of us starting a game, our first game that seems to be what members agree on is a top down lazer tag sort of game. It will using online matchmaking though our new VPS and will allow you to play online instantly without port forwarding. I am even thinking of making a complex AI for it :) so you can play offline too. If this game goes good I might think of making a version for the Xbox!  On to my life. Well I have just got back from Washington DC for vacation. I was all packed, with a nice dvd burnt of 4 GB of my stuff for my tablet. Two hours in to the trip I insert the dvd and guess what? No folders! For some reason, Roxie creator think that’s when you add data to a dvd your not talking about the folders, when you explicitly select them! Anyways, my XNA engine is comming pretty well. I am writing new classes for it and hope to finish it really soon. What I have planed is the folowing classes: GuiLabel GuiSprite GuiButtion GuiMenu GenericEnemy GuiTextBox LevelLoader and more.

Anyways, that’s it
See you guys later.
