I dream of Cloud Hosting
Posted in Cloud Hosting, Halo on January 26th, 2009 by Ardnat – Be the first to commentA few days ago I was checking out the Hack A Day blogs and saw a cool article on how to use amazons EC2 service to host tornets. Right when I saw it I was hooked and imidently made an account. Amazon’s EC2(Elastic Compute Cloud ) is a new service that lets you host cloud virtual servers very easily. When I made an account I found a pretty neat tutorial on how to start makeing your first virutal server(Linux or Windows) with the service (Link). After about 20 miunits I was up and runnig with Red Hat on my privet vitural server. But thats not the best part, amazon only charges arround 10 to 12 cents per hour when you run the machine. If your on a tight budget and you want to run your server all the time this is not such a good price, but if you want to run the server just some times(like me) its pretty sweet. So after that I made a new windows server and installed the halo virtual server on it. Workked like a charm. Now i had a 20meg per second internet connection with 2 gb’s of ram and a dual core 2.6 ghz processor runing my halo server, and it was awsome. I got the game going and it was pretty much lag free with really low ping rates. I will post again with some more cool cloud services I found.
Cya!
After doing some reserch It seems to have been lauched arround october of 2008.
